Classroom Item Needed

Dear Parents,

One of our bulletin boards, "Work Worth Treasuring" was designed as a place for students to showcase their work. Every Friday, they will look through their Friday folder and choose any graded assignment that they are proud of to display on mounted black construction paper. These assignments do not have to be a 100%.

I tried to staple the construction paper to the board, but it keeps falling off, so I am in need of velcro and lots of it.

If you happen to go shop at Wal-Mart or Target over the weekend, could you please donate some to the classroom? This is a bulletin board that I am desperate to keep because it allots the opportunity for every student to SHINE!

Thanks for your continuous support of the learning in our classroom.

Very appreciative,

Mrs. Drain

A Reflective, Thank You!

I had a conversation Thursday morning with one of my classroom parents. She came up to check on her son’s progress and to get my perspective on how I thought the year school was going thus far.

She stated that she would ask her son every afternoon how was his day and he would reply, “Good!” She said it seem too good to be true, that everyday, everything was going well!

That put a smile on my face because I can say sincerely say that the beginning of this school year has been absolutely WONDERFUL!!! I love the students of Room 318. They are engaged, respectful, and truly a joy to be around.

Then to add icing on the cake, I am so fortunate to have you as my classroom parents! You are receptive to my phone calls, supportive of the learning/homework, and you provide/donate any and everything that I ask for. I am grateful. If this is what the beginning is like, I cannot wait to see what the next two years bring us. Thank you for making the start of this school year so great!

Okay, okay, I'm done being sentimental...

REMINDER

Due THIS Thursday, October 20th
(this is the last weekend before it's due)

o   PLEASE NOTE: Your child needs to bring in ALL of the following in order to pass their first milestone:

1. three books from the library, home, or the book store pertaining to their topic
2. Print-outs from each of the three websites that they will be using
3. the Milestone 1 form completed with a parent's signature

All of this is due next Thursday, however, I would LOVE for students to turn it in

Classroom Item Needed

Because I have so many WONDERFUL classroom parents, we have had a lot of snacks donated, which ensured that every child had a snack. Thank You and please continue to donate!

However, with snack time taking place during our reading block, I have had to make individual baggies for each student to take with them to their reading class. We are going through the baggies pretty quickly. So, I say all of that to ask, can anyone please donate "snack size" baggies to the class?  I want to continue to ensure that each student gets a snack.

As always, thanks for all that you do!

A big shout out goes to...

Fall Celebration

Mrs. Drain’s class will be having a Fall Celebration on Monday, October 31, 2011.  The Fall Celebration will be from 12:30:-1:15p.m. in our classroom.  We are celebrating the wonderful transition that your child has made into the fourth grade and the completion of the MEAP. Please join us in this celebration! We would love all parents who can, to attend! It would be great to see you!

The students have voted to have pizza during the Fall Celebration. Your child is NOT required to purchase pizza; they can still eat the school lunch during that time. However, if your child would like to eat pizza, the cost is $1.00 a slice and they have the option of either cheese or pepperoni. All money should be turned in by Friday, October 28th. Other items are also needed for the celebration. If you would like to contribute other item(s), please click on the permission slip tab above.

When purchasing or preparing the items, please be mindful that there are 17 students in the classroom, plus 1 teacher. Thank you for your support!
