To the Parents and Students of Room 318,
I am writing this letter to inform you that I won't be returning to UPA next school year. I have accepted a position as an Assistant Principal for a school in Ypsilanti. I am so excited to pursue a life-long dream of mine (SWEET), but I will miss each and every one of my students and parents (BITTER).
I will continue to write Summer Reading Club letters that are posted on Edmodo. I know I have been late responding, but a lot has been going on this month, as you can imagine. I would love for you to keep in contact with me(embryjd@yahoo.com) because I cherish the relationships that were established and built last school year with both students and parents.
I wish you and your child nothing but the best in future endeavors.
Educationally yours,
Mrs. Drain

End of the Year Buffet, Summer Reading Club, and Happy Summer
Parents of Room 318,
Sadly, it's the end of the school year :( But, we went out with a BANG!!! All of the academic and social success that each student obtained was phenomenal! In addition, the relationships that were built and maintained between myself, you, and your child was something that every teacher dreams about. I cannot express how proud I am of all of the students and how grateful I am to all of the parents of room 318.
It was great to see Mr. & Mrs. Nolen, Ms. Lewis, Mrs. Goss, Mr. & Mrs. Martin, Mr. and Mrs. Hayes, Mrs. Harrell, Mrs. McLin, Mr. Lang, Ms. Coffey, Ms. Stewart, Ms. Scott, Ms. Howard, Ms. Smith, and Mrs. Wells at the celebration. Thank you for all of your help, I could not have done it without you...as always.
I wanted to give a HUGE shout out to all of the parents who contributed to the end of the year buffet, and I mean ALL because every single student brought in something to share! For those parents who were not able to attend because of their schedule, I've made a video slideshow just for you...check it out!
Have a fabulous summer, but don't forget to write your three letters to me for the Summer Reading Club. Below is all of the details just in case your original copy gets lost over the summer. :)
Create wonderful memories this summer!!!
Love,
Mrs. Drain

College Fair 2012
Check out Drain's Admissions Advisors at the College Fair!
The students ROCKED!!! They were able to inform their audience about important information about their colleges, such as: undergraduate enrollment, tuition, majors offered, admission requirements, clubs, sports offered, and so much more.
It's amazing to see 9-10 years old students understanding and discussing information that they aren't normally privy to until high school, you should be proud too! Check them out..

Let's Eat!
To celebrate all of the
academic success that has been obtained this school year, we will be having an End
of the Year Buffet on Thursday, June 14, 2012. Each child is
responsible to bring in their favorite HOMEMADE dish,
please no store bought
items. With each child contributing
we will have a buffet of 18 different
dishes to choose from. The celebration will be
from 12:00-1:30 p.m. in our
classroom. We will be recognizing your child’s
academic success, so parents are invited to the celebration due to
your intricate
part in your child’s achievements. I hope
you come.

Student Work
Click on the "Student Work" tab to view PowerPoints from their exhibitions. It's amazing to reflect from the beginning of the school year, when majority of the students had no idea what a PowerPoint consisted of. Now the students are able to create their own with animation, sound, video, etc! Check them out, they're AWESOME!!!
Also, Maranda and Asia created a commercial for their 3-Cities Tour." Check it out below...
